In a recent meeting involving partners and stakeholders, Mr. James Iorpuu, the Executive Secretary of SEMA, disclosed the proactive approach to combat flooding in the state, with a primary focus on facilitating rapid development.

Mr. Iorpuu stressed that the technical committee assigned to tackle flooding in Benue State is preparing to submit a comprehensive action plan and budget to Governor Hyacinth Alia for approval.

He expressed appreciation for the timely responses of humanitarian organizations and other stakeholders in addressing crises within the state, particularly highlighting their contributions through relief materials for displaced individuals.

Regarding the resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), Mr. Iorpuu highlighted the commitment of international migrant organizations to conduct a verification process for IDP counts. He emphasized that resettlement would follow this verification initiative.

In a related development, Mr. Iorpuu unequivocally denounced the recent killing of eight individuals in the Ortese and Mgban communities within the Guma Local Government Area of Benue State. The assailants are suspected to be members of a herdsmen militia. End.
