Bingham University expelled Mr. Adamu for violence and causing religious disharmony

By Israel Adamu,Jos

The authorities of Bingham University, Karu in Nasarawa State, has explained why it recently expelled a student of the institution Adamu Salisu Halliru.

The institution was reacting to a news report carried out by a National newspaper in which the former student alleged that he was expelled from the university in October 2023 due to his religious practices.

In a swift reaction Bingham University in a statement signed by Daburi Bello Misal, the Director,Public Affairs of the institution reads that the attention of the University has been drawn to an online publication in the Sun News paper of June 13th ,2024 in which the expelled student ( Adamu Salisu Halliru)e reportely , accused the institution of expelling him because of religious practices.

The university wishes to observe that the National Newspaper based its story on the facts it received from the said student without balancing its story by hearing from the University.

For the avoidance of doubt, the student was expelled having exhibited acts of violence while chanting slogans capable of causing religious disharmony. These facts are before the court for determination.

According to the statement “The university offers equal opportunity to all as long as students and staff abide by the rules and regulations of the institution.”

” It is absurd to say the least that a student who has been in the university for 2 years and was never denied prayers would accuse the university of doing so when numerous students of the same faith have not been denied same.”

The university is however confident that the Court would vindicate its action, the statement further reads.
