Body of Benchers appreciate President Tinubu, Wike for infrastructural intervention

Chairman of the Body of Benchers, Chief Adeboyega Awomolo has commended and appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the FCT Minister Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike for supporting the judiciary with infrastructural intervention.

Speaking at the flag – off of the construction of the facilities ceremony of the Body of Benchers at Jabi on Friday, Chief Awomolo in his welcome address noted that the infrastructural intervention by the FCT Minister who is also a Life Bencher is historic in the annals of government.

Chief Awomolo said, ” The Body of Benchers is very grateful to his Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of the FCT for approving the initiative of the Minister of the FCT, Barr. Nyesom Wike, Life Bencher for the intervention of the provision of basic infrastructural facilities in the Law School, Body of Benchers and the Judiciary.

Awomolo stated that the infrastructural intervention now made to the Body of Benchers by the FCT minister is one of the Executive supports which deserves appreciation and commendation.

“Let no one be deceived , no arm of government is so sufficiently endowed and has everything that it requires to perform its constitutional functions. The makers of our constitution foresaw the need for support, cooperation, collaboration, and intervention of the Executive arm in areas of infrastructural facilities, he said.
Awomolo noted that government infrastructural intervention, “does not amount to interference with the independence of either arms of government.”

The FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike disclosed that the public project is not one that would be started and abandoned by his administration.

” No, this project will be completed in 10 months’ time, adding that at least we have 70 to 80% of the funds for the project has been released for this project, Wike stated.

The minister further disclosed that the president has approved the construction of more residential buildings for the lecturers of the Law School.

He said, “On Monday, we did Nigerian law school. We have flagged a project of about 10 residential buildings for the lecturers of Nigerian law school.”

Furthermore, Wike approved the request for a fire service station in the Body of Benchers facility at Jabi.
He said,” you have requested for a fire service station. Let me just say this clearly. I have called the Director of Engineering.”

The minister promised to ensure the fire service station is included in the 2025 budget. He gave the assurance that, “By 2025, we are going to establish a fire service station within this complex.”

And I know I’m happy. And I want to assure the Body of Benchers, I will make you proud. And you will see a difference as far as governance is concerned.

Furthermore, the FCT Minister Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike was decorated as a Life Bencher by the Body of Benchers.
