Borno Police Apprehend Eight in Connection with UNIMAID Lecturer’s Murder

The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of eight suspects linked to the alleged murder of Dr. Kamar Abdulkadir, a lecturer at the Department of Physical Health Education at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID).

Abdulkadir was tragically killed in his office on the university campus on Sunday, with his body discovered on Monday bearing multiple injuries inflicted by his assailant.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Nahun Daso, the attackers not only took the lecturer’s life but also made off with his vehicle, phone, and laptop.

Daso revealed that CCTV footage showed the perpetrators leaving the university premises with the deceased’s vehicle, although the video quality was insufficient to discern the number of individuals involved.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted to uncover further details surrounding the incident.

In response, Prof. Danjuma Gambo, speaking on behalf of UNIMAID’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Shugaba, assured that the police and other security agencies have launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances of Abdulkadir’s death.

He urged staff and students to remain calm and carry on with their regular activities, emphasizing that the university is collaborating closely with security agencies to address the situation.

Furthermore, he expressed gratitude for the outpouring of sympathy and support from stakeholders during this difficult time.
