BREAKING: Appeal court vacates order sacking Abure, others

Must read

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has overturned the ruling of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, which prohibited Julius Abure and two others from serving as national officers of the party.

On April 5, 2023, Judge Hamza Muazu, presiding over an ex parte application, had restrained Abure, Farouk Ibrahim, Clement Ojukwu, and Oluchi Opara from acting as national officers of the LP.

The lawsuit, brought by Martins Esikpali John, Lucky Shaibu, Isah Zekeri, Omogbai Frank, Abokhaiu Aliu, Ayohkaire Lateef, John Elomah, and Ayobami Arabambi, accused Abure and others of forging documents from the FCT High Court to unlawfully substitute candidates in the previous elections.

In response, the defendants sought relief from the appeal court.

In the judgment delivered on Wednesday, Justice Hamman Barka ruled that the high court had erred in assuming jurisdiction over the matter. Additionally, he awarded N1 million in favor of the appellants.

Further details will be provided later.
