BREAKING: Gunmen attack police checkpoint in Ebonyi

Gunmen attacked a police checkpoint on the Abakaliki-Enugu Highway in Ebonyi on Thursday, setting a police patrol van on fire. The incident took place at the Ishieke Junction on the outskirts of Abakaliki.

Reports indicate that one policeman was killed and another may have been abducted, although these claims have not been independently verified.

DSP Joshua Ukandu, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the attack but stated that he had no information on any killings or abductions. He added that reports from the scene were still unclear and that he was working to gather more details about the incident.
