BREAKING: INEC Declares Petition to Recall Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Invalid

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has ruled that the petition seeking to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the 10th Senate, has failed to meet constitutional requirements.

In a brief statement posted on its verified Facebook page on Thursday afternoon, INEC stated:

“The petition for the recall of the Senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).”

While the Commission did not provide further details, it assured the public that a comprehensive statement on the matter would be released soon.

At the time of reporting, it remains unclear whether the petitioners will be given an opportunity to amend their submission to comply with legal requirements or if the petition will be dismissed outright.
