Breaking News: Fatal Accident Claims Three Lives on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Tragedy struck in the early hours of Saturday as three individuals lost their lives in an accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Mowe.

The incident, attributed to a container falling off a truck bearing registration number T-1563 LA, resulted in the fatal trapping of three occupants of a Howo truck lacking a number plate.

According to Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the crash was exacerbated by dangerous driving, leading to a loss of control.

Despite efforts by the FRSC rescue team to save the victims, comprising the truck driver and two passengers, they succumbed to their injuries due to the severity of the impact. Their remains were subsequently deposited at a morgue in Sagamu.

In a statement issued by the FRSC, it was reported, “The FRSC operatives at Mowe carried out rescue operation at about 0107 hrs on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway around Mowe involving two vehicles (trucks) with registration number T-15636LA Bluebird and a HowoTruck with no number on it.”

The statement further highlighted the agency’s efforts to manage the situation, including arranging for a tow truck to remove the vehicle obstructing traffic flow and a crane to clear the container from the road.

While expressing condolences to the families of the deceased, the FRSC emphasized the importance of defensive driving and adherence to traffic rules to prevent accidents. Motorists were urged to anticipate the actions of others and prioritize the safety of all road users.
