Breaking News: Labour Party National Chairman, Julius Abure, Released on Bail

Julius Abure, the national chairman of the Labour Party, who was detained by operatives of Zone 5 Police headquarters in Benin, Edo State, has been released on bail.

His arrest, reportedly stemming from a petition forwarded to the zone from the Inspector General of Police’s office in Abuja, led to his detention on Wednesday. However, he was released around 2 am on Thursday.

Addressing his supporters upon his release, Abure emphasized the challenges faced in the struggle for people’s liberation, stating that his persecution aimed to destabilize the party, particularly since the 2023 general election.

Abure disclosed that the state chairman, Kelly Ogbaloi, and the state youth leader were still in custody but expected to be released later in the day.

He expressed gratitude for the solidarity and support from his supporters, highlighting the resilience required in fighting for the people’s emancipation. Despite the ongoing investigation, Abure refrained from discussing the specifics of the allegations against him.

He reiterated his commitment to the party’s cause and the pursuit of the people’s welfare, emphasizing the need to address pressing issues affecting Nigerians, including skyrocketing fuel prices, inflation, and unemployment.

Abure condemned the current state of affairs under the APC-led government, citing the worsening economic conditions and hardships faced by ordinary citizens.

He concluded by reaffirming his determination to continue the struggle for a better Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of actions taken with power and the imperative of serving the people’s interests diligently.
