President Bola Tinubu is set to embark on a trip to Dakar, Senegal, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, to attend the inauguration ceremony of Senegal’s President-elect, Bassirou Faye.
The announcement was made by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement titled ‘President Tinubu to Attend Inauguration of Senegal’s President-elect Bassirou Faye,’ released by the Presidency.
As the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, Tinubu’s visit to Senegal marks his first official visit to the country since assuming office. He received an invitation from the Senegalese government to attend the inauguration ceremony, which will take place at the Diamniadio Exhibition Centre on Tuesday.
Tinubu will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and other senior government officials on the trip. Following the inauguration, he is expected to return to Nigeria.
This visit to Senegal will be President Tinubu’s fifth trip to an African country since taking office 10 months ago, and his 17th international trip overall. Previously, he has visited several countries, including France (thrice), the United Kingdom, Guinea-Bissau (twice), Kenya, Benin Republic, India, the United Arab Emirates, the United States of America, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Ethiopia, and Qatar.
