Breastfeeding Is A Potential Tool To Saving Lives-Commissioner

State Commissioner of Health Hajiya Asabe Balarabe says Mothers have a crucial role to play in shaping the future of the society through breastfeeding.

She stated that at this year’s World Breastfeeding week organised by State Ministry of Health in collaboration with State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and some Development partners in the state.

Hajiya Asabe said breastfeeding is not just a natural act but a powerful tool that has the potential to save lives.

Statement issued to ourcorrspondent in Sokoto by the Information Officer of the Ministry, Nura Bello Maikwanci also said the Commissioner assured that the Ministry would continue to support and promote breastfeeding in the state.

She called on all stakeholders to work together to create a culture where breastfeeding is not just encouraged but celebrated as a cornerstone of maternal and child health.

The commissioner was represented by the Coordinator Reproductive Health of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency Hajiya Shafa’atu Bello.

In his remark, the Special Adviser State Primary Healthcare Development Agency Alhaji Garba Bello who was represented by the Director Community Health Services of the Agency Dr Tukur Garba Magaji reiterated the commitment of the Agency to support any programme aimed of promoting Health sector in the state.

He thanked the Development partners for their contribution toward the success of the 2024 World Breastfeeding week.

Commenting, on behalf of the Development partners in the state, State Coordinator of FHI 360 Mr Victor Osatogbe advised Mothers to adhere to the advises offered to them on breastfeeding by Health personnel.
