British Council Announces Price Increase for IELTS Tests in Nigeria Starting September 2023

Starting from September 2023, the British Council has revealed that Nigerians will be required to pay N107,500 for the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam. This marks a notable increase from the current range of N80,000 to N90,000.

The British Council clarified that this price adjustment is essential to maintain the exceptional standards that contribute to a superior “testing experience.”

Traditionally, the United Kingdom mandates individuals from any nation aspiring to relocate for employment or educational pursuits to undertake the IELTS test.

In an official communication, the British Council conveyed, “Esteemed Test Taker, we would like to apprise you that effective 1 September 2023, there will be an adjustment in the pricing of IELTS tests facilitated by the British Council.”

The revised fee structure will encompass NGN 107,500 for both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training assessments, NGN 116,000 for UK Visas and Immigration purposes, and NGN 104,000 for Life Skills evaluations.

The announcement further emphasized, “These revised charges are imperative to uphold the elevated standards that contribute to the excellence of your testing encounter.”
