BUA Foods, ASR Africa Donate N10m and Foodstuffs to Widows

In commemoration of the 2024 International Widows’ Day, the Abdul Samad Rabiu Initiative for Africa (ASR Africa), in collaboration with BUA Foods, has donated foodstuffs and a N10 million grant to widows in Lagos.

The donations, which included IRS Pasta, IRS Semolina, BUA Rice, and the N10 million grant, were distributed during the International Women Society’s Widows Feast and Empowerment programme in Lagos.

ASR Africa, supported by BUA Foods, aims to alleviate economic hardships faced by widows. Speaking about the initiative, Ayodele Abioye, Managing Director of BUA Foods, said, “Our role as a company goes beyond business. We are committed to making a meaningful impact on the lives of those around us. Our corporate social responsibility drives us to engage in initiatives like this, where we can make a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.”

Dr. Ubon Udoh, Managing Director and CEO of ASR Africa, emphasized that the N10 million grant is part of ASR Africa’s continuous efforts to invest in social development. He noted, “The grant reflects the commitment of the Chairman of ASR Africa and BUA Group to improve the livelihoods and welfare of Nigerians. Partnering with IWS, we aim to bring relief to the beneficiaries and ensure the sustainability of this initiative.”

Mrs. Adeola Adebanke, Chairperson of the Widows’ Trust Fund of IWS, expressed her gratitude for the food donations and grant provided by ASR Africa and BUA Group’s Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu.

The widows also voiced their appreciation for the essential food items and the quality of BUA Foods’ products. Mrs. Khadija Rufai, one of the beneficiaries, said, “We are overwhelmed with gratitude for ASR Africa’s generous donation. This will alleviate significant pressure on my household, allowing me to focus on my children’s well-being and education.”

Another widow, Mrs. Adebimpe Lanre, added, “This donation of BUA Foods’ products by ASR Africa is a lifesaver for many of us. It will make a huge difference in our households, allowing us to focus on other important needs.”

BUA Foods is a prominent food company listed on the Nigerian stock exchange.
