President Muhammadu Buhari has been called upon to sign the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) bill into law before leaving office, adding that signing the bill would enable the members of the voluntary security group to discharge duties more effectively.
The call was made by an intelligence officer of the group Muktar Abdullahi Ungogo in a chat with newsmen in Kano, where he reiterated that VGN being the most populous voluntary security association, it is also presence at both rural and urban settlements across the country for long decade.
Muktar Ungogo described the leader of the group Retired Navy Captain Umar Bakori as somebody who is struggling to ensure that peace reign in Nigeria by supporting security agencies in keeping the country more secured like what is being enjoyed today.
Commenting on the peaceful coexistence in Nigeria, Ungogo lamented that ” despite some challenges, there is improvement in our security system and it is time for the general public to assist in exposing all activities and movements tht threat security issues in their sorroundings”. He cincluded
