The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has given indications that the Federal Executive Council, FEC, will be dissolved on May 22.
Lai Mohammed spoke to State House correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council meeting. He however noted that the clarification became necessary because of wide spread speculation on the issue.
President Muhammadu Buhari had last week asked ministers to submit a comprehensive “status reports on policies, programmes and projects” from their respective ministries, departments and agencies.
The directive had led to wide spread speculations that President Buhari will do away with his cabinet earlier than expected. Lai Mohammed however said that there was no plan for the immediate dissolution of the federal cabinet, “the cabinet is still intact, and we are going to have a valedictory service on 22nd of May”.
With the expiration of the deadline for the submission of status reports on policies, programmes and projects, he said any further submissions including outstanding memos should be directed to the cabinet office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha.
Ministers are to “ensure that all outstanding memoranda they intend to present to FEC are submitted to the Cabinet Affairs Office, in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, not later than April 30’’.
Also, the weekly FEC meeting was presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo

No fewer than 21 ministers alongside the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha and the Head of Civil Service of the Federation Winifred Oyo-Ita were in attendance.
