N-Power Youth Congress Demands Full Absorption of 500,000 Disengaged Members Into MDAS Across The Country

    By Dauda R Pam Maiduguri.

The national N-Power Youth Congress (N-PYC) has called on the federal government to fully  absorp  the recently disengaged 500,000members of  batches A and B into ministries, departments and agencies,MDA,across the country.

The N-PYC National Coordinator, Hon. Joseph Enan Maigari, made the call at a news conference, saturday,in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, the third news conference in the series on the same issue.

Yet, the Federal Government, has refused to listen to our demands,” he lamented.

He said if government cannot absorb the disengaged members of the N-Power, at least some grants should be paid to each of the 500,000 youths as “exit packages”,wondering why nothing was pronounced by,President Mohammadu Buhari, during  Thursday’s presidential broadcast on ENDSARS protests Nationwide.

He said the youths have been disengaged from the N-Power scheme without alternative option to cater for their livelihoods.

“We’re reminding President Muhammadu Buhari once again of his promises to us,” noting that the youths will never relent, until their demands are met. He added that 36 State Representatives of N-Power beneficiaries have earlier also stated  alternative demands to government.

“We were struggling in different spheres of life to make a living. “We were also meant to quit the things we were doing, before being engaged into the N-Power scheme,” adding that government also pledged to absorbed the  youths on winding up of scheme.

He lamented that the youths had served the country with monthly stipend of N30, 000 and that the said monthly allowances cannot meet up their families’ basic needs, including school fees, electricity and water bills.

“How much does a bag of rice and four-liter of cooking oil cost in the market,” he asked rhetorically.

.On the exit grant packages, he said: “Absorb members that want to work with Federal Government and give them a reasonable exit package to venture into businesses and other entrepreneurial enterprises.”

He wondered why Boko Haram insurgents were empowered under the auspices of “Repentant Boko Haram, while, “The innocent and harmless 500,000 youths have been crying every day, but no one listens our cries,” just as  they will continue to be law abiding citizens, so that  the President may come to terms and understand that “a hungry man is also an angry person”.

  • Plateau denies hoarding COVID-19 Palliatives

    Plateau denies hoarding COVID-19 Palliatives

The Plateau state government on saturday swiftly denied hoarding palliatives meant for the citizens to cushion effect of COVID-19.

In a statement by the state commissioner for Information and communication, Dan Manjang, said, “following the vandalization and looting of palliatives from some warehouses in Jos and Bukuru on 24th October 2020, it has become expedient for the Plateau State Government to condemn the action and further make some clarifications about the items to clear the erroneous impression that they were being hoarded.

According to him, “the items at the warehouses were delivered to the state by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Social Development and Disaster Management for distribution to beneficiaries in Plateau State.

Manjang explained that the Hon. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouk was in Jos together with the Minister of Women Affairs Dame Paullen Tallen on the 16th October 2020 to deliver the items and had indeed brought in the personel of the Ministry to carry out the distribution in conjunction with State officials.

However as they were preparing to begin the process, the #ENDSARS protests began which put the process on hold.

“Unfortunately while the team from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Social Development and Disaster Management alongside the state representatives were waiting for the coast to clear to commence the distribution, the stores were breached and the items carted away.

“The Plateau State Government therefore wishes to state categorically that it did not hoard any palliatives meant for the citizens of the State at any time.

  • #EndSARS: I didn’t leave Nigeria, I’m still the JAGABAN” – Tinubu

    #EndSARS: I didn’t leave Nigeria, I’m still the JAGABAN” – Tinubu

All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu has declared that he’s still the Asiwaju of Lagos as well as JAGABAN. the

The Billionaire made this statement during a visit to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the State House in Marina.

Asked about his whereabouts in the past few days, Tinubu said, “I didn’t go nowhere; I’m a Lagosian and I still hold the title of Asiwaju of Lagos and I am still a Jagaban.
“Fake news is all over the place. They say Seyi my son was kidnapped and was chased but look at him. I didn’t pay a penny to bring him here.”

Speaking on Saturday, Tinubu stressed the need for a thorough investigation into Tuesday night attack.

He said, “First, we have to segregate the calendar – those who suffered casualty before the protests from the hands of SARS. You have to separate that from those who suffered casualty due to what happened at the toll gate.

“For those who suffered casualty from SARS, the Commission of Inquiry that is already set up will unearth that and will make their recommendations. I trust the calibre and the character of the people there, they are independent. That is one.

“Those who suffered casualty during the gunshots need to answer some questions too. Even though we want to help, we still must extract information that will help the government to prepare in future and understand how and when to react because the governor, in particular, is a youth.

As a youth himself, he (Sanwo-Olu) quickly went to Abuja with the 5/5. The government immediately put into action, dissolved the SARS and had to work through other recommended actions, the needs they demanded. Within a few days, he reported back to the public. That is responsive enough.

“But where are we getting the looting, the carnage, the burning, the invasion of police stations, stealing of arms, maiming of the innocent? It is a handshake beyond the elbow.”

A statement from the state information commmissioner Comrade In Ememobong on Saturday in Uyo explained that the curfew would last between 8pm and 7am daily adding that the decision was taken after a review and assessment of the security situation in the state.

“Though normalcy has returned to the entire State, especially, Uyo the capital city after the expiration of the curfew which was imposed from Thursday night till Saturday morning, there is a prevailing need to sustain the gains of the curfew, by increased strategic surveillance and holistic law enforcement.

“To this end, the Governor has directed that, effective today, a daily dusk to dawn (8pm~7am) curfew be imposed State-wide, till further notice, to help check the movement of the remnants of the undesirable elements who created chaos in our State few days ago.

” It is also the Governor’s directive, gleaned from the agreement by all youth groups in the State, that all demonstrations and protests be suspended forthwith.” The statement said.

“We insist that Ekiti State currently has no Covid-19 palliative warehouse as all the palliatives had been distributed.
Unfortunately, the items carted away were Single Super Phosphate and NPK fertilisers, which they erroneously thought was “Gaari’’, cassava grains.

“Some people even made away with pre-fermented corns preserved for planting. All these items are poisonous and not fit for consumption.

In a similar statement, Dr Olabode Adetoyi, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, confirmed the looting, warning that most of the items carted away contained chemically-treated seeds meant for planting.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo raises alarm on how Yoruba’s are Plotting attacks on Igbos

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, OYC, has asked Ndigbo resident in Lagos State to defend themselves in case of any attack on them.

The youth wing of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation said it has uncovered plots by unnamed persons to attack Igbos in Lagos on 26th October.

OYC noted that there are video flying about where some foreign-based Yoruba persons have threatened to attack Igbos residing in the Southwest, especially Lagos.

OYC said that the verbal attacks and threats are plots by desperate individuals to create confusion and grounds for the purported planned declaration of State of emergency in Lagos.

OYC said it has uncovered a glandestine plot by displaced Southwest leaders that were sacked by #EndSARS protesters to resort to threats and violence on Igbo lives and properties in the Southwest

“This intended attack on Igbos is hatched by disgruntled Yoruba Elders in Ekiti and Osun States, using the misguided utterances and bogus claims of a Biafra leader as an excuse to unleash hooliganism and terror attacks on Igbos by midnight 26th October 2020,”

Ohanaeze said in a statement signed by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, its
    President General, on Saturday.
“We are confident that Afenifere and Yoruba Council of Elders will refute this video and douse the tensions and panic associated with the planned attack on Igbos.

“Rise up and defend yourself great Igbos. We will never be dragged into the waves of violence in Southwestern Nigeria. Igbos deserve respect from Yorubas not terror attacks,” he said.
