CBN Launches DocFlow and MDAs Naira Payment Solutions

By   Milcah   Tanimu

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has launched two digital initiatives: Document Flow (DocFlow) System and Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) Naira Payment Solution. The launch occurred on January 15, 2025, at the CBN headquarters in Abuja. It is part of the Bank’s “Digital First” transformation initiative, introduced in December 2023.

Key Features of the New Solutions

  • DocFlow System: This system digitizes document management within the CBN. It reduces paper usage and streamlines approval workflows. Governor Olayemi Cardoso noted its role in boosting operational efficiency and sustainability.
  • MDAs Naira Payment Solution: This solution automates cash withdrawal processes for MDAs. It aims to enhance service delivery, reduce errors, and prevent fraud.

Leadership Remarks

Governor Cardoso highlighted the cost-saving benefits of in-house development. He emphasized its alignment with the Bank’s sustainability and innovation goals. Deputy Governor Emem Usoro praised the initiatives for driving operational excellence.

Acting IT Director, Mrs. Jide-Samuel, shared that the MDAs Naira Payment Solution underwent successful trials. She stated it could improve payment turnaround times by up to 70%.

Impact and Future Prospects

The CBN aims to lower operational costs, speed up service delivery, and promote sustainability through reduced paper use. This initiative also aligns with efforts to expand the adoption of eNaira. The digital currency will facilitate payments for government accounts and vendors.

The launch strengthens the CBN’s role as a leader in technology-driven financial solutions. Details about integrating eNaira with the MDAs Payment Solution are pending.

By leveraging these innovations, the CBN moves closer to a fully digitalized and efficient framework.
