The Nigerian Army awarded a scholarship worth ₦2.5 million to Miss Bukar Nana-Fatima, an Islamic law student at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID). On Thursday, the army issued a cheque of ₦500,000 for her first academic session.

Maj.-Gen. Waidi Shuaibu, Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, presented the cheque in Maiduguri. Nana-Fatima, 18, earned the award after a screening process by the Nigerian Army.

Shuaibu explained that she would receive ₦500,000 each academic session for five years. This funding aims to help her pursue her studies without financial stress.

“This event reflects the Nigerian Army’s commitment to promoting education,” Shuaibu said. He noted the program’s focus on supporting young people facing challenges due to insurgency.

The COAS initiated this scholarship program to foster peace and development. It aims to empower deserving students who show academic promise and commitment.
