Codefest plans to launch TV educational show

Codefest International on Sunday said that one of its vision for 2020 was to launch a television education programme for children on how to create computer software.

Mr Moss Uromtah, Founder, Codefest International, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

He said that the television show would give more children the opportunity to learn how to code and would enable create apps and websites.

Codefest has a target of reaching out to one million students by 2020.

He said that though Boot Camp training were ongoing across the country, the television show would help boost what had been learnt.

According to him, the immediate plan of the show was to produce talents and create opportunities for Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) industries.

He said that codefest had also produced ambassadors such as 12-year-old Basil Okpara Jnr featured by CNN for developing 37 games after a five-day Boot Camp.

Uromtah said that Master Okpara won a visa to watch the Nations Cup in Egypt.

“Over 200 instructors have been trained across Nigeria and Codefest has pioneers of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) curriculum in Nigeria.

“We have impacted through our centre for tech talents and innovation, creation of development centres – Hubs, centre of technology and industrial integration.

“As well as intensive monthly coding training Boot Camp across Nigeria targeting one million students by October 2020,“ he said.

Uromtah said that the key value proposition for 2020 was to be brand carrier for youths and urban tech population.

Also to have access to talents and technology products one can use and provide new markets’ wider reach for socio-economic development. (NAN)
