The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ondo State on Tuesday donated hand sanitisers to members of the  Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state.

The Coordinator of the NYSC in the state, Mrs Grace Akpabio, while presenting the sanitisers at the NUJ chapel in Akure, said journalists were also frontline workers in the fight against Covid-19.

Akapbio said the Director General of the Scheme gave a directive that the Skills Acquisition & Entreprenuership Department (SAED) of the scheme should produce hand sanitizers for all frontine workers.

She said that since she got to the state in 2017, the NYSC had always enjoyed good relationship with journalists in the state.

“I appreciate you all so much, journalists in the state have been friends with the NYSC, I can remember during our annual management conference, the DG said he was impressed the the level of coverage the NYSC got  in Ondo State.

“There is no programme we have that we invite the press that they don’t show up. Most times, we got scared of the number of journalists at an assignment, but they never failed us,” she said.

Akpabio commend the chapel for for their sense of gender equality,  stresting that they should continue the good work they were doing.

Responding, the Vice Chairman of the Chapel, Mrs Bola Ojuola, said the chapel was grateful for the kind gesture from the NYSC.

“We appreciate the NYSC and i hope for a continuous relationship between the chapel and the scheme.”
