COVID-19: Sustain sensitisation, C’ River govt appeals to traditional rulers, youths

The Cross River Government has appealed to youths, traditional rulers and religious bodies to sustain the sensitisation campaign on the danger of the coronavirus in their areas in order to curb its spread.
The state Commissioner for Youths and Skill Acquisition, Mr Signor Idege, made the appeal on Tuesday in Calabar.
He urged stakeholders to ensure that people in the 196 wards of the state were educated on measures to avoid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Idege also appealed to people in the state to be orderly when the COVID-19 taskforce commences the distribution of food and other essential commodities to the poor and vulnerable.
“Nigeria is currently facing the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic which has led to the total lockdown of the nation and need for hygiene compliance.
“We are calling on traditional rulers and youth-based groups in the state to support government’s efforts to sustain the sensitisation campaign against COVID-19 in the state.
“The ministry will be using the single register to identify and give support to the poor and vulnerable, so, I plead with you to ensure compliance to the strict orders from the governor which include border closure in communities that share borders with neighbouring countries,” the Commissioner said.
He also lauded the pro-active measures put in place by Gov. Ben Ayade to curb the spread of the virus in the state.
The commissioner solicited the support of everyone to combat the pandemic.
