Dangerous career advice you should ignore

It is certain that people love to give advice. But it is advisable to filter every advice given. In this article, we would talk about the worst misleading career advice. Although it is a good thing to seek for advice either to keep you on the right track or to help you solve and avoid problems.
It is common for unsolicited persons to throw a piece of advice. People do that for different reasons. Either they don’t want you to make the same mistake they made or they are interested in being a part of your successful achievement.
In the process of seeking for advice, you could be ill-advised upon meeting the wrong person. So, don’t just take in anything that is suggested to you. Dig deeper, filter, pray and hope you will have no regrets.
Here is some career advice you should ignore.

1. GO FOR THE BIGGER PAY.

Getting a job is not all about money. Don’t let the attractive pay mislead you. You might end up not liking the job. But for starters, especially in a certain profession where you need to be exposed to so much information that would help you grow your career, you might need to ditch a high paying job for a job that would provide you with the experience you need.
Some persons even go as far as working for free to enable them to get exposed to the amount of experience they would require to do better in the nearest future. Don’t let anyone convince you to always go for the biggest pay. It might not be what you need to get job satisfaction. You wouldn’t want to be in a place where you aren’t learning anything. That is a perfect way of not building your career.

2. GO FOR ANY JOB OFFERED.

Getting a job in a country like Nigeria is not easy. But that doesn’t mean you should settle for less once the jobs come. except you are completely broke. But it is not good to show any form for desperate action. Nevertheless, you are likely to get more job offers. But the most important thing here is, don’t settle for less, know your worth and be patient for better job offers.

3. BE COMPLACENT WITH YOUR JOB.

People would tell you to stick to your job whenever you have plans to leave. This happens because of the fear of the unknown, job insecurity, the probability of getting a better job. But this is one way of killing or hiding your potentials. You have to make the sacrifice to step out of your comfort zone and make use of those God-given potentials.

4. WAIT FOR A PAY RISE

This isn’t something you should wait for. This is something you should ask for. The management may likely not give you a pay rise on their own will. It’s best to take the bulls by the horn and ask for it.

5. YOU CAN’T GO BEYOND YOUR LIMIT

Don’t listen to anyone who wouldn’t advise you to go the extra mile. It is unsafe to remain in your comfort zone as an individual with so many potentials. The more you use your head, the more you get ideas. But you wouldn’t achieve anything if you don’t step out of your comfort zone. Let there be no limits.
