Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and his wife Chioma Rowland have touched down in Miami, United States, as preparations gear up for their highly anticipated white wedding.
The music star had earlier hinted in April that the ceremony would take place in August, though the exact date was left under wraps. However, recent developments suggest the event is likely to be held on Saturday.
A video shared on Davido’s Instagram story on Wednesday showed the couple boarding a private jet adorned with floral decorations and a chair labeled “MRS,” setting the tone for the romantic celebration ahead. He also posted a photo from Miami, confirming their location.
Adding to the significance of the event, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is Davido’s uncle, has also travelled to the U.S. for the ceremony. His spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, confirmed the governor’s trip in a statement on Tuesday, following criticism from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) questioning his whereabouts.
Davido and Chioma’s love story has been closely followed by fans. The singer proposed in 2019, but the couple faced turbulence in 2021 amid reports of infidelity. They also endured heartbreak in October 2022 with the tragic death of their son, Ifeanyi.
In March 2023, Davido revealed that the couple had legally married, and they later welcomed twins in October 2023 in the U.S. Their traditional wedding ceremony was held in Lagos in June 2024, drawing attention from fans and celebrities alike.
Ahead of their white wedding, Davido recently sparked conversations online when he claimed Chioma’s wedding ring is worth the price of “two or three Rolls-Royce cars.”
With anticipation building and high-profile guests expected, the couple’s Miami wedding promises to be a glamorous affair to remember.
