Nigerian singer David Adeleke, known widely as Davido, has bowed to the criticism from Muslim individuals and taken down the controversial music video of his artiste, Logos Olori.
Davido initially shared the music video on his Twitter page on Friday morning to promote his music artiste. The video featured individuals dressed in white attire performing prayers similar to Muslim practices, followed by dancing and recitations of Quranic verses and prayers.
However, the video faced backlash online, with some Muslim netizens accusing Davido of disrespecting Islamic beliefs and practices. The depiction of prayer in a music video was considered offensive by some Nigerian Muslims, particularly in the North, who urged Davido to remove the video and issue an apology for his actions.
After days of criticism, Davido finally heeded the calls and deleted the controversial music video from his Twitter page. However, it’s worth noting that he did not issue an apology for the video’s content.
The removal of the video might be seen as a response to the concerns raised by the Muslim community, but the absence of an apology has left some critics still seeking acknowledgment for the perceived disrespect to their religious practices.
