The Defence Headquarters has launched a terrorism sponsorship investigation in Nigeria, focusing on allegations involving Defence Minister of State Bello Marawalle and Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal. This inquiry follows accusations from the governor, who claimed Marawalle is linked to bandits, while Marawalle countered that the governor is collaborating with terrorists.
Major General Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, stated that relevant agencies are actively working to uncover the truth behind these serious allegations. He emphasized the military’s commitment to dismantling the enemy’s capability to fight by targeting commanders and disrupting logistical and administrative operations.
The military has made significant strides in combating terrorism, having killed 65 terrorist leaders and apprehended several others. General Buba noted that winning the war against terrorism requires substantial public support, asserting that “the military’s role is only 30%; the rest relies on sub-national governance and cooperation.”
In a related development, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) apprehended a high-profile Boko Haram logistics courier, Mr. Garba Buda, in Borno State. This arrest represents a significant setback for Boko Haram’s operations in the Lake Chad region.
