The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has elected Chief Solomon Arenyeka as its new State Chairman at the party’s State Congress held in Asaba. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori urged the newly constituted executive to begin preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Arenyeka, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Chairman, emerged by consensus alongside other executive members during the congress at the Cenotaph. Elder Moses Iduh was elected Deputy Chairman, while Chief Efe Uko was returned as State Secretary.
Other officials affirmed at the congress include Chief Paulinus Akpeki (Delta Central Chairman), Chief Emmanuel Amgbaduba (Delta South Chairman), Engr. Daniel Ossai (Delta North Chairman), Elder Emmanuel Egbabor (State Organising Secretary), Barr. Valentine Onojeghuo (State Publicity Secretary), Mrs. Ifeyinwa Sobotie (State Woman Leader) and Christopher Agali (State Youth Leader).
Chairman of the State Congress Electoral Committee, Engr. Vital Abba, said the affirmation process complied with the party’s constitution and guidelines. Addressing party members, Oborevwori commended the outgoing executive led by Elder Omeni Sobotie and described the congress as peaceful and inclusive. He urged the new leadership to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and internal engagement ahead of 2027.
In his acceptance speech, Arenyeka thanked party members for their support and pledged to uphold transparency, teamwork and accountability in leading the state chapter.The congress was attended by party leaders and delegates from across Delta State.
