Delta APC inaugurates Campaign Council as DSP Omo-Agege calls for total victory

By Ann Azuka

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and Governorship Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) on Monday charged members of the Campaign Council to ensure total victory for the party during the forthcoming general elections.

Equally, Omo-Agege congratulated all the men and women selected to serve the party in the Governorship Campaign Council, with the former Minister of Niger Delta, Mr. Godsday Orubebe as the
Director-General of the State Campaign Council.

Omo-Agege gave the charge while speaking at the formal Inauguration of Delta State APC Campaign Council in Asaba tasked all stakeholders and party faithful to ensure APC emerges victorious in all elective offices up to the Presidency.

According to DSP Omo-Agege, in the task ahead, all APC members are also campaign coordinators, mobilizers and canvassers for the party at all levels in the State.

“And this membership of the Party, is what I refer to as the “entire team”. As faithful party members, we must be committed to the party leadership, because its decision is supreme and every member must be prepared to accept such decisions.

Omo-Agege frowned that Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa led Government had misused and wasted the state’s hard-earned resources.

“This has left our state seriously undermined in so many ways that are too numerous to count. And when the state ran out of funds, he embarked on a reckless borrowing spree, thereby mortgaging our future and those of our unborn children.

” Delta State received, generated and borrowed funds recklessly for the past seven years”, he stated.

“We must take back our dear State from Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who with his cohorts, having held our state hostage. After over seven years of Okowa, one thing we all agree on, is that there is a huge gap between the funds”, DSP averred.

“Delta State is the highest receiver of Federal allocation and 13 percent derivation, yet, the State is also the second most indebted State in the country”, he added.

He however described the situation as seemingly chaotic socio-political and economic environment in the State that requires a leader with the necessary skills and knowledge, to work with a qualified team to address the systemic bottlenecks that have hindered the development of the State.

Omo-Agege therefore urged every resident, both indigenes and non-indigenes in Delta North, Delta South and Delta Central to get ready to work, and fight for the state and get ready to win elections on the 11th of March 2023.

“This is the time to terminate the ill-conceived Okowa dynasty. We do not want to see more of the past five very terrible years of Okowa-Oborevwori tyranny. We want our state back. The gross misuse and total waste of scarce resources that has cost Delta state so much and this must stop”, he stressed.

Earlier, the State Chairman of APC, Mr. Omini Sobotie thanked all the party stakeholders, Chieftains and members for their commitment and support for the party.
