The Delta State Government says its ongoing infrastructure development is aimed at boosting economic growth and strengthening social stability across the state. Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, made the remarks during an interview on Television Continental’s Politics Tonight, where he outlined progress under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.
Aniagwu said the government is prioritising rural road construction and rehabilitation to improve access to markets and services, particularly in agrarian and riverine communities. He noted that the approach aligns with the administration’s MORE Agenda, which places infrastructure at the centre of development efforts. According to him, major urban projects, including three flyovers in Effurun and Warri, are nearing completion, while works at Otovwodo Junction in Ughelli and Uromi Junction in Agbor are ongoing.
He added that several previously neglected rural roads are being rehabilitated to enhance connectivity, support agricultural activities, and improve livelihoods. Aniagwu also said the government is enforcing quality standards and monitoring contractors to ensure timely project delivery and value for public funds.
Linking infrastructure to security, he noted that improved road networks can aid mobility for security agencies and help open up isolated areas. The commissioner maintained that visible project outcomes have contributed to public confidence, adding that the administration remains focused on delivering measurable results.
