Delta Speaker says Gov. Oborevwori determined to ensure safety of residents

Speaker Delta State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Emomotimi Dennis Guwor has  said that Governor Oborevwori has shown so much capacity in governance and is determined to ensuring the safety of residents in the state as encapsulated in his MORE agenda.

Guwor equally  lauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for making security a core policy of his administration.

The Speaker gave the commendation during Tuesday’s plenary of the House, while reacting to report of the restoration of peace and security in Uwheru, Ughelli North local government area of the state, which has been under the siege of herdsmen.

Describing him as a visionary leader, the Speaker said Oborevwori was aware that security was necessary for accelerated development and economic growth in the state

He thanked security agencies in the state for living up to expectation as well as the State House of Assembly Committee on Legislative Compliance led by the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Arthur Akpowowo, which has been working tirelessly to ensuring that resolutions of the House are implemented.

“The Delta State House of Assembly welcomes the report of the return of peace and security in Uwheru community that has been under siege by herdsmen. 

“I must appreciate His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State for his proactive response to security concerns in the state. 

“I also commend security agencies for their efforts and encourage them to maintain visible presence in the area.

“The State Assembly will continue to work with His Excellency to prioritize safety and security of constituents and all residents in the state”, Guwor said.

The Member representing Ughelli North 2, Hon. Spenser Owhofa had on behalf of constituents, thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the Speaker and members of the state legislature, security agencies and other stakeholders for tackling farmers-  herdsmen clashes in his constituency, particularly Uwheru community.

Leveraging on his privilege as a member of the House under the item; “Personal Explanation”, Hon Owhofa said his people now leave their homes without the fear of being attacked or harassed by herdsmen.

The Lawmaker appreciated Governor  Oborevwori and every other person who played a role in resolving the crisis and restoring peace and security in the locality.

He said members of his constituency, particularly the people of Uwheru kingdom are indeed happy as the development has added values to the socio-economic life of residents in the area.
