The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) announced that the current leadership of the Armed Forces has initiated a ‘war mode’ strategy to counter the rising threats of terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and economic sabotage against Nigerians.
In the past week, military operations resulted in the neutralization of 23 terrorists, bandits, and IPoB (Indigenous People of Biafra) militants. Additionally, 17 kidnapped civilians were rescued, and 32 criminals were arrested, including those involved in supporting terrorists, providing logistics, engaging in oil vandalism, and participating in IPoB activities.
At a briefing in Abuja, Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, provided further details on the operations. The military recovered N3.525 million cash, 125,000 CFA, and 60 GHA Cedis from the criminals, which were handed over to relevant authorities for investigation.
In the North East region, as part of ‘Operation Hadin Kai,’ the military successfully retrieved seven AK-47 rifles, two FN rifles, one 36 hand grenade, 100 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, two mobile phones, and two cows. The troops also recovered food supplies, condiments, a cart, and N2.1 million in cash. Additionally, six terrorists were neutralized, and eight suspected collaborators were arrested.
The activation of ‘war mode’ demonstrates the Armed Forces’ commitment to safeguarding the nation and confronting the ongoing security challenges head-on.
