By Abel Leonard/ Lafia

The chairman of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics ASUP, Isa Mustapha Agwai the First Polytechnic Lafia Chapter Comr. Sylvester Aku has called on engr. Abdulahi Sule to dissolve the governing council of the institution with immediate effect to safe the institution from further damages.

Comrade Sylvester who made the call at a news briefing after an emergency executive meeting in Lafia, said it has become imperative to save the polytechnic from further damages following the inability of the governing council to be proactive towards addressing challenges facing the school.

He alleged that “the governing council was unable to implement fully the recommendations of the white paper which indicted former management of the Polytechnic for alleged embezzlement of funds including Tertiary Education Trust Funds amounting to over two billion Naira”.

The ASUP boss however called on Governor Abdullahi Sule to intervene towards ensuring that most of their colleagues who were stranded in various institutions of learning in different countries abroad due to failure of the governing council to recover the misappropriated funds continue with their programmes.
