Doctors begin 5 Day nationwide warning strike action

The National Association of Residents Doctors, NARD, have commenced a 5 Day warning nationwide strike action today from 8.00am on Wednesday 27th May, 2023 to Saturday 21st May, 2023.
Work resumes by 8.00 am on 22 May, 2023.

The warning was contained in a Communique signed jointly by the President Dr. Orji Emeka Innocent, Secretary General, Dr. Chikezie Kelechi and Publicity and Social Secretary, Dr. Umar Musa made available to newsmen.

NARD said the decision to embark on five days warning strike was reached after an Extra ordinary Council virtual meeting yesterday, as a result of the Federal Government’s failure to meet their demands of doctors concerning payment of salaries and improvement of healthcare sector before the 29th May.

NARD called on the federal government to address issues raised before the 29th May, 2023 hand over date as further industrial harmony cannot be guaranteed after the warning strike the issues are left unresolved.

The association had embarked on a two weeks strike action making demands including payment and upgrade of salaries and general improvement of the healthcare system to meet the needs of Nigerians.
