Double salary frauds allegation Rocks Chikun LG’s VC

By Idibia Gabriel

Leadership of the Chikun Local Government Area of kaduna state headed by Hon. Hajiya Hadiza Yahuza, are restless over double salary fraud allegation leveled against its Vice Chairman.
Already, the Council’s Caretaker Committee Chairperson, Hajiya Yahuza, has admitted acknowledgement and receipt of letter of the double salary allegations, absenteeism and resumption of duty query against his vice, by Kaduna polytechnic.

The Vice Chairman of the Council Hon. Jafaru Samaila Leeman has been at the centre of the storm following the letter of query from kadpoly, alleging that he took Oath of Allegiance (Oath of office) as vice Chairman of Chikun LG before approval of leave of absent was granted from the polytechnic, his employer.

A document obtained from Kaduna polytechnic, duly signed by the Registrar Dr. Mohammed Sani Musa, the polytechnic accused Hon. Leeman of taking double salary from Kaduna polytechnic and Chikun local government for five months, beginning from July, August, September, October and November 2018, respectively.

Dated 3rd December 2018, the letter with reference no. KPT/CA/S/PER10, 846/VOL.1/413, and addressed to Hon. Leeman stated that Leeman “applied for leave of absence on 10th July 2018 following your appointment as caretaker executive council of Chikun LG as vice chairman” by Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state.

The letter stated that Hon Leeman was replied on 18th July that action would not be taken on his request until a case of his failure to resume duty was concluded by senior staff disciplinary committee.

It stated that “Evidence however, available indicates that you took oath of allegiance” on 9th July 2018″, and that he took double salary from Kaduna polytechnic and Chikun LG for five months, saying that in view of the action he should explain within 48 hours of receipt of the letter why disciplinary action shouldn’t not be taken against him for claiming double salary from two government establishment.

However, when contacted, the chairperson of Chikun LG, Hajiya Yahuza said she received a copy of the letter sent to her by the Polytechnic.

On what’s the Council doing or intend to do about letter, and whether the allegations are factual, Yahuza said she has been trying to get the attention of of VC, Leeman to seat him down for talk on the issue but proved abortive, as the VC would said “I’ll see you or I’m coming”, but never did.

Yahuza promised to make time out for discussion at her convenience time but yet to be seen on till the time of filing this report.

Also contacted, the accused, Hon Leeman declined comment on ground that the letter supposed to be an internal memo and did not expect any public invasion on it till when necessary. Although, he reluctantly confirmed knowledge of the letter and his responses accordingly, saying those behind the mischief are being identified, and their oddities, too, would be exposed at appropriate times.
