Afenifere Factional Leader, Pa Fasanmi Endorse Buhari in Ekiti

National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday, pulled a slight political stunt, when he dragged the leader of the pan yoruba group, Afenifere, Pa Ayo Fasanmi to publicly declare support for the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo.

The move, which took place at the venue for the presidential campaign rally of President Buhari in Ekiti State, was apparently to counter an earlier endorsement of the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar by the Ayo Adebanjo led faction of the group.

Afenifere, which is alleged to be sharply divided along political lines, in recent times was started by late Obafemi Awolowo.

Recall that beside the Afenifere, other regional groups from the Niger Delta, Middle Belt, Northern Elders Forum and the Ohanaeze Ndigbo had thrown their weight behind Atiku Abubakar at the weekend, eliciting more political fireworks within the Nigerian polity.

Tinubu while addressing supporters at the rally, indirectly took a swipe on the PDP presidential candidate, saying he owes it a duty to explain to Nigerians how he hoped to create two million jobs if elected President.

According to the APC National Leader, Nigerians should not not forget in a hurry the frequent misunderstandings between Atiku and former President Olusegun Obasanjo over alleged embezzlement of funds in the Petroleum Technology Development Funds(PTDF).

“One thing is clear, they have come from all corners again to lie to you, one who is always busy with container business, and with his running mate, he has propagated another container economy, they want to come back to sell our common wealth.

“They lie to you PDP will create two million jobs in a year, and nobody has asked him how, when you were there with Obasanjo, how many jobs did you create and how many times did you quarrel openly.

“How many times did Obasanjo accuse Atiku of stealing PTDF money, what was his answer, he said Obasanjo stole too, he said he was not the only thief, “he stated.

Adams Oshiomhole, APC’s national chairman on his part, described the Adebanjo faction of Afenifere which earlier endorsed Atiku as fake.

He said not only has the world been infiltrated with fake products and people but that the political space has now been taken over by fake politicians.

His words, “In the world we now live in, you have original and fake, you have fake news, fake drugs, pastors and imams, likewise we also have original imams, drugs and people.

” So when I hear people who are hungry, who have never had the benefit or who cannot claim in their cv of being elected by the people of yoruba land, or perform any particular role like the governors who are here seated, they were elected to protect the interest of the Yoruba race.

‘I think the question has been answered when I saw Pa Fasanmi and chief Bisi Akande here, so if people who are broke, who are in seasonal political business now assemble themselves out of hunger and a man who is known to have formed his business capital through smuggling have money to give them to make proclamations, they are fake leaders.

“We are in a democracy, they are neither traditional rulers, so they cannot invoke the power of the ancestors”
