DPR seals 10 fuel stations in Jalingo

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has sealed ten filling stations in Jalingo.

Mr Jeremiah Mashat, Controller, Taraba Field Operation’s Office on Monday in Jalingo said that the action was to ensure compliance and enforcement for the selling the product at the government approved price.

Mashat insisted that Marketers must adhere to all regulations governing the downstream sector of the petroleum industry.

According to him, we are out to ensure that the public is not shortchanged in the consumption of the petroleum products in the state.

He insisted that the all marketers must comply with the official price of N162 and N165 per litre.

“We are able to seal off eleven filling stations in Jalingo.

“Before now we sent out a team that monitored the selling of the product and as well warmed them not to sell above government approved price.

“To our dismay, some of the maketers went ahead and violated the order and that is why we have no option but to sanction them accordingly.

“They must pay fine for violating our rules and that will serve as deterance to many other potential violarors.,’ He said.

When contacted, Alhaji Lukman Mohammed, Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Markers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) Taraba state branch said that the clampdown was unnecessary due to recent increase in depot charges.

He however, said that the union would hold a meeting with the DPR and discuss on how to resolve the impasse
