Vera Anyim, the woman who faced criticism during her testimony at Dunamis International Gospel Centre, has expressed forgiveness and reconciliation with the church and its senior pastor, Dr. Paul Enenche. This follows a contentious moment during the Sunday service when Enenche accused Anyim of lying about her educational background.
During her testimony, Anyim stated she graduated with a “B.Sc in Law” from the National Open University of Nigeria. However, Enenche interrupted her, asserting that there is no such degree and questioning her language proficiency. He then asked her to leave the pulpit, which sparked backlash from netizens demanding an apology.
Anyim took to her Facebook page to announce that she had met with Enenche and his wife, Dr. Becky Enenche, and harbors no ill will towards them or the church. She expressed gratitude for public concern and emphasized her commitment to moving forward.
Dunamis Church issued a statement explaining the reasons behind the incident, citing concerns about Anyim’s language proficiency and the clarity of her academic credentials. They emphasized the pastor’s commitment to maintaining excellence and integrity within the church community and expressed regret for any inconvenience or embarrassment caused.
The church’s statement highlighted that any embarrassment was unintentional and stemmed from a spur-of-the-moment decision. They reiterated their support for Anyim’s physical and spiritual welfare.
After the incident, Anyim revealed on Facebook that she graduated with a third-class degree from NOUN, explaining that she mistakenly said B.Sc instead of LLB during her testimony. She expressed disappointment with the treatment she received but remains optimistic about her faith and future.
The church’s apology and Anyim’s acceptance of the situation mark an end to the controversy, with both parties focusing on moving forward.
