Ebirra-BassaKomo war: farmer beheaded on his farm in kogi

As peace appears to be returning to the towns and villages under siege by tribal warlords in Bassa local government of kogi state, a farmer, Modu Jimba was beheaded on his farm at Bezhe-Odugbo near Mozum, the invaded towns by mercenaries of one of the warring factions recently.

It was gathered that Mr Jimba net his ultimerly death when he went to his farm with his wife on saturday November 10, 2018 to harvest cassava and fell into the hands of his killers.

According to report making the round in the areas, the victim and his wife were about to settle down to start harvesting the cassava when shouting of ,”we have gotten him at last” suspected to be from his assailants rented the air.

On hearing the noisy movement and shouting toward them, the late farmer and his wife were said to have taken to thier heels, abandoning the business of day that brought to the farm.

However, his assailants caught up with him, overpowered him and beheaded him, while the wife escaped in the process.

A source posited that his lifeless body, with no head was later seen today in the bush closer to his farm, after a search party located him.

An attempt to get more details from Kogi state police command proved abortive as the state Police Public Relations Officer, Williams Aya could not be reached on his cellphone.

But it was confirmed that the relations of the slain farmer have reported the ugly incidence to the Divisional Police command at Oguma, the headquarters of Bassa local government for further action.

It could be recalled that Bassa Komo and Ebirra -Mozum speaking people in the areas have been at dagger drawn due to irreconcilable differences for months, where many people at both sides have lost their lives and property worth millions of naira have been destroyed.

And the moment, there are fears of reprisal attacks in the offing, following the assassination of this farmer, believed to be a scion of Bassa-komo ethnic speaking people living in the area.
