EFCC Arrests CEO, One Other for Alleged N68m Visa Fraud in Enugu
By Francis Wilfred
Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested one Chukwujindu Goodness Nchekwube, Chief Executive Officer, Goodben Global Travels and Tour Limited alongside Rogers Oluwaseyi Eruku (a.k.a Bakary Rogers Yanni), a suspected fraudster, for allegedly defrauding 24 victims the sum of N68, 020, 000. 00 under the pretence of assisting them to process work visas.
According to a press statement signed by the Head Media and publicity, Dele Oyewale, a petitioner, James Ikechukwu, alleged that Nchekwube approached him and introduced herself as a visa consultant capable of assisting people to procure work visas to their desired countries, through her company, Goodben Global Travels and Tour Limited.
He further alleged that between September, 2024 and December, 2025, he contracted Nchekwube’s company (Goodben Global Travels and Tour Limited) to process work visas to various countries for 20 (Twenty) of his clients and the sum of N57, 620, 000. 00 was transferred to her company’s accounts for processing the visas, with a promise to deliver them at a stipulated period of time.
“However, after receiving the money, Mrs Nchekwube blatantly refused to deliver the visas to my clients as agreed, rather, she converted the money to her personal use. After much persistence for her to deliver the work visas, she delivered some visas to some of my clients but to our greatest surprise, it was discovered that the visas/Offer Letters were forged to make my clients believe that they were genuine”, the petitioner alleged.
In the course of investigation, the suspect claimed that she gave the said money to Eruku who had presented himself to her as a reliable person capable of procuring visas for people to any part of the world. She claimed that the said fake visa/Offer Letters were procured by Eruku. In a curious twist, another petitioner, Oranezi David Chinedu alleged that Eruku, sometime in May 2024, offered to procure work visas for him and three of his friends to Ireland and some other countries.
He claimed that the total money fraudulently collected by Eruku for the visas was N10, 400, 000. 00 only for him to handover forged documents to them. “I was highly disappointed at the criminal act by Bakary Rogers Yanni to have collected money for visa processing purposes only to issue me and my friends fake documents”, he said. The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

Omo-Agege Calls for Probe Into PTI Meeting Attack, Warns Against Political Violence in Delta
By Anne Azuka
Former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has called for a thorough investigation into the disruption of a political meeting at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Conference Centre in Effurun, Delta State, warning that rising political violence could affect the credibility of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Strategy and Communications, Godwin Anaughe, Omo-Agege condemned the reported attack on an APC Delta Central leaders and stakeholders’ meeting, where suspected thugs allegedly disrupted proceedings and injured the Delta State Government’s Senior Special Assistant on Protocol, Temple Mudi.
The former senator described the incident as a threat to democratic participation and urged security agencies to identify and prosecute those responsible. He also appealed to political actors to embrace peaceful engagement.
Omo-Agege further referenced an earlier incident involving Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate Deacon Chris Iyovwaye, who he said was allegedly prevented from accessing his community’s town hall in Agholokpe. He urged authorities to investigate both incidents.
He specifically called on the Delta State Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Inspector-General of Police to conduct comprehensive investigations. He also appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), civil society organisations, and the international community to monitor political developments in Delta State.
Omo-Agege reaffirmed his commitment to peaceful democratic participation, stating that violence should not be allowed to undermine the electoral process.

75% of Doctors Leave Nigeria Within Two Years of Graduation, Says Akwa Ibom NMA Chairman
By Ogenyi Ogenyi, Uyo
The Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) in Akwa Ibom State, Prof. Aniekan Peters, says about 75% of newly qualified doctors leave Nigeria within two years of graduation, citing poor remuneration and working conditions as major reasons for the trend.
Speaking with journalists in Uyo during activities marking the association’s Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference, Peters called on the Akwa Ibom State Government to establish at least seven medical training institutions to help address shortages of healthcare professionals. He said the migration of doctors, often referred to as the “Japa” phenomenon, has made it increasingly difficult to recruit and retain medical personnel in the state.
According to Peters, doctors earning about ₦400,000 monthly in Nigeria can earn significantly more abroad. He said the NMA is proposing a 2,000% increase in doctors’ wages in the state to improve retention.Peters also noted that recent recruitment exercises failed to fill approved vacancies. He said only about 50 doctors were recruited despite approval for 400 positions, while authorities also struggled to recruit 700 nurses until entry requirements were adjusted.
He commended Governor Umo Eno for approving a medical school at Akwa Ibom State University but argued that more institutions are needed. Peters said the state should expand medical education by upgrading existing health facilities, including the General Hospitals in Ikot Ekpene and Eket, as well as the Ibom Specialist Hospital, into medical training centres.
