EID EL FITR: Muslims in Delta mark end of Ramadan fast

By Anne Azuka

Thousands of muslims in Asaba, the Delta State capital converged on various venues to join their counterparts to observe eid prayers to mark the end of the Ramadan fast.

At the Federal College of Education, Technical Central Mosque Asaba, the Chief Imam, Alhaji Yinusa Adekola who led the Eid prayers, urged the muslim faithful to continue to appreciate Allah every day, and be good to one another.

“The relevance of the celebration is that it teaches us to be very patient with ourselves, with our fellow human being, and with God.

” It’s a means of really giving thanks to Almighty God for his guidance over mankind. We should love ourselves, and one another, and be thankful to God , and be supportive of good governance in the country “,Alhaji Adekola stressed.

While buttressing the need for more prayers for the nation’s political leaders, Alhaji Adekola urged government to step up governance by providing good infrastructure, employment and alleviate the plights of the masses.

“We must continue to pray for the nation’s leader to do what is right. If you see what is going on in our country today, there is serious hunger; there is unemployment. That’s why the crime rate is high. Government need to step up governance. Provide good infrastructure, employment and alleviate the plights of the masses”, he added.

The Chief Imam who condemned the gruesome killings of some persons at Uromi traveling  to celebrate the Eid el Fitr in the north, cautioned Nigerians against taking laws into their hands.

He stressed the need for security agencies to beef up security in all parts of the country to avert reprisal killings or recurrence of such dastard acts.

Some muslims in an interview , said they were happy to be alive to celebrate this year’s Eid el Fitr celebration in good health, and thanked Allah for a peaceful and successful Ramadan fast.
