Eid-el-Fitr: Wike Urges Unity, Peaceful Coexistence Among Abuja Residents

By Joyce Remi-Babayeju

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has felicitated with residents of Abuja, particularly Muslim faithful, on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, calling for sustained unity, peaceful coexistence, and national progress.

In a goodwill message to mark the end of the Ramadan fast, Wike congratulated Muslims in the FCT for the successful completion of the spiritual exercise, describing Ramadan as a period of deep reflection, renewal, and devotion.

He urged residents to uphold the virtues of compassion, forgiveness, and unity cultivated during the holy month, noting that such values remain essential for peaceful coexistence and societal development.

The Minister also called on residents to use the festive period to offer prayers for Nigeria and its leaders, stressing the need for continued peace and progress across the country.

Wike commended the spirit of generosity and communal harmony demonstrated by Muslims and non-Muslims alike during Ramadan, noting that acts of kindness and cooperation have reinforced Abuja’s reputation as a symbol of unity, peace, and harmony.

Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, the Minister assured residents that the FCT Administration would provide a conducive environment for political activities, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and order.

He urged residents, regardless of political, ethnic, or religious affiliations, to emulate the peaceful conduct exhibited during Ramadan and sustain it throughout the year.

Wike also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said has positively impacted the socio-economic well-being of FCT residents and strengthened security in the nation’s capital.

Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to safety, Wike assured that security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration, urging residents to go about their activities without fear.
He reiterated the FCT Administration’s resolve to protect lives and property while continuing efforts to transform Abuja into a world-class capital city.

Wike prayed for Allah’s acceptance of the fast, prayers, and good deeds of the Muslim faithful, wishing them a joyous and blessed Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
