Hon. Bello El-Rufai, the representative for Kaduna North in the House of Representatives, has denied rumors suggesting that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided his Kaduna residence. The allegations, which claimed that the EFCC uncovered $800 million, N700 billion in cash, and N1 trillion worth of drugs, were swiftly debunked by El-Rufai.

In a statement released on December 4, 2024, El-Rufai clarified that he does not own a personal residence in Kaduna, and instead resides in the family home in Unguwar Sarki, which has been his home since birth. He labeled the rumors as a deliberate attempt to damage his reputation and mislead the public.

El-Rufai further emphasized that these baseless allegations were an affront to justice and fairness, stating that he would pursue legal action against the media outlets spreading the falsehoods. The EFCC also issued a statement on December 5, denying any raid, calling the reports a “false narrative” and urging the public to disregard them.

This latest development follows a series of media reports that have sparked public concern, with the EFCC and El-Rufai working to clear the air on the issue.
