Elections: Postponement Twitter Reactions

By Jennifer Y Omiloli

Please come out to vote on Saturday, 23 February and Saturday, 9 March respectively. Frustrate those who do not want this election to hold by coming out in very large numbers. That is the best antidote to their plans.—Atiku Abubakar

I, therefore, appeal to all Nigerians to refrain from all civil disorder and remain peaceful, patriotic and united to ensure that no force or conspiracy derail our democratic development.—Muhammadu Buhari

Our response to @inecnigeria and the @MBuhari Presidency is that they have only succeeded in postponing the evil day for their candidate. Nigerians will never adjust in their resolve to resist the APC rigging plans and serve @MBuhari his defeat certificate on 23, February, 2019.—PDP

The attempt to force the Chairman of INEC to field APC candidates in Zamfara or end up losing his job is condemnable. Buhari u are playing with fire. Removing the INEC Chair and replacing him with Amina Zakari will not be the end of ur problems: it will be the beginning of them.—Femi Fani-Kayode

The postponement raised five things;Doubt,Dust,Suspicion, temper and Cost. However,It should not lower our spirit or our resolve to exercise our democratic responsibility.Unfolding events demands that we should be marathoners not Sprinters.— Senator Shehu Sani

Let me warn President @MBuhari not to push Nigerians to the wall by sacking the @INECNigeria boss and replacing him with his niece by marriage, Amina Zakari. If he must sack Professor Mahmood, Buhari must not replaced him with Amina.—Reno Omokri

Wow! So Amina Zakari is in charge of logistics at INEC! What a COINCIDENCE. Or not.—Ben Murray-Bruce

Waiting till just a few hours to the commencement of voting before announcing the postponement of elections is extremely sad. Nobody can quantify the difficulty that this will bring to millions of Nigerians across the nation.—Bukola Saraki

Pressure being mounted on the INEC Chairman, Prof Yakubu to ensure that APC fields candidates in Zamfara or he gets sacked and be replaced by Amina Zakari. It is now getting clearer that APC desperation to have candidates in Zamfara is one of the reasons for the postponement.— Peter Ayodele Fayose

Mr. President was already in Daura in Katsina State and the VP already in Lagos to vote this morning before the postponement just announced by INEC. This is truly disappointing, but the march to the Next Level continues. Nigeria will prevail.—Laolu Akande

My question is how did people get to know several hours before the announcement that the election will be postponed, juxtaposed with the fact that some certain elements even said the election has been postponed several days ago. The constant noise of postponement by the PDP too.—Abubakar Sidiq Usman
