Elon Musk buys Twitter at $44bn.

On Monday, Twitter confirmed it’s selling the platform to billionaire entrepreneur, Elon Musk, striking the deal at the value of $44 billion dollars.

Musk in a joint statement announcing the takeover, said Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the humanity and future are debated.

The sale was a dramatic shift for the board which wanted to stop Musk from taking the social media platform private.

Twitter board Chair, Bret Taylor, said the body conducted a thoughtful process to assess Elon’s proposal with a focus on value, finance and certainty.
