Enugu Police Arrest Man Accused of Killing Mother and Sister

Enugu State Police Command has reported the arrest of Somadina Orji, a young man accused of killing his mother, Mrs. Charity Orji, and his sister, Miss Ukamaka Orji. The incident occurred on December 4, 2023, in Umuagu Inyi, Oji River Local Government Area. The suspect allegedly buried his victims in a shallow grave in their backyard. According to community leader Ben Obi, the suspect, involved in drug-related issues, had conflicts with his family. The situation escalated when he targeted his younger brother, leading the mother to seek intervention from the community. Upon her return from a condolence visit, the suspect reportedly killed and buried his mother. The younger brother raised an alarm, prompting villagers to interrogate Somadina, who confessed to the murders. Police have arrested the suspect, and an ongoing investigation will precede his arraignment. The Inyi community leaders and coordinating president general in Oji River have expressed concern over drug abuse in the area, calling for intervention to prevent future incidents.
