EPL: Aston Villa agree £18m deal for Tammy Abraham

Aston Villa have agreed an £18 million deal to sign striker Tammy Abraham from Turkish side Besiktas, following the completion of his permanent move from AS Roma.

Besiktas confirmed that Abraham’s loan from Roma has now been converted into a permanent transfer after contractual conditions were met, with the club set to pay €13 million to the Serie A side.

The 28-year-old travelled to the UK on Friday and completed a medical on Saturday ahead of his proposed return to the Premier League, after Villa reached an agreement with Besiktas for his transfer.

Abraham joined Besiktas on loan last summer with an obligation to buy. Although the Turkish club were reportedly reluctant to sell, they have agreed to the move as Villa finalised terms for the forward’s switch back to England.

During his time in Turkey, Abraham scored 12 goals in 24 appearances for Besiktas this season. He has also been capped 11 times by England at senior international level.

In a statement, Besiktas confirmed the permanent transfer from Roma had been activated, clearing the way for the striker’s sale.

“The conditions in the transfer contract of Kevin Oghenetega Tamaraebi Bakumo-Abraham have been fulfilled and the provision for the permanent transfer of the player has come into effect,” the club said.

Aston Villa are expected to announce the signing once final paperwork is completed.
