Erruption Of Violence Led Cancellation Of Over 300 Polling Units In Sokoto Says PDP Chairman

Democracy as an institution of exercise of practicing civic rights has turned bloody in Sokoto during the just conducted Presidential,Senate and House of Reps leading to cancellation of over 300 polling units across the state.

The PDP party Chairman in the state Bello Aliyu Goronyo who briefed newsmen on the activity said the fallout of such an unprovoked violence and disruption of electoral process by armed sponsored thugs had led to cancellation of over 300 polling units resulting to disenfranchisement of over 400,000 voters.

However,the Chairman said “our administration has an obligation to protect lives and properties of the people in the state including the electorates from undue harassment from any quaters”.

While calling on law enforcement agencies to execute their duty according to the provision of Constitution,Goronyo reiterated that their party is a peaceful,responsible and law abiding thereby calling on their supporters to remain calm and ensure they collectively come out and cast their votes during the rerun and governorship elections.
