Explosion Hits APP Headquarters in Rivers State Amidst Defection Speculations

By Milcah Tanimu

An explosion occurred at the Action People’s Party (APP) headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, early Monday morning, causing significant damage to the building. Eyewitnesses reported that unidentified individuals threw dynamite-like explosives into the premises, destroying windows, doors, and other property.

The incident comes amid swirling rumors that Governor Siminalayi Fubara may defect to the APP, following tensions with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is alleged to have taken control of the state’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). A party official has described the explosion as a politically motivated attack, urging the police to investigate. However, the state police command has stated that it is not yet aware of the incident.
