A powerful explosion has hit a section of the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) in Bodo Community, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The incident, which occurred late Monday night near the ongoing Bodo-Bonny Road construction site, sent thick black smoke billowing into the sky. A video circulating on Tuesday morning showed raging flames rapidly spreading into the surrounding mangrove forest.
The TNP is a critical federal pipeline that transports crude oil to the Bonny Export Terminal in Rivers State.
When contacted for confirmation, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that she would look into the matter and provide further details. However, as of the time of filing this report, no official response had been received.
