Explosion Strikes Nigeria’s Zungeru Hydro Plant in Niger State

Reports have emerged indicating that nigeria’s zungeru hydro electricity plant, valued at n1.3 billion, located in niger state, has been struck by an explosion. The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of monday, although specific details surrounding the explosion remain unclear at this time.

The zungeru hydro electricity plant, boasting a capacity of 700 megawatts, had recently been connected to the national grid, as announced by the minister of power, adebayo adelabu, in april. At that time, nigeria’s overall electricity capacity had been reported to increase to 4,800mw from 4,200mw, serving a population exceeding 200 million.

Further updates on the situation at the zungeru hydro electricity plant are awaited as investigations into the explosion continue.
