Fatal Stabbing by ‘Shila Boys’ Gang in Yola Claims a Life

Tragedy struck in Yola, Adamawa State, as a criminal gang known as the ‘Shila boys’ took the life of a 37-year-old man, Umar Abdulkadir. The Adamawa State police command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria.

‘Shila boys’ are a group of youths who carry light weapons and have been causing terror in various communities, engaging in activities like snatching mobile phones, jewelry, and other valuables from unsuspecting victims.

The fatal incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday when the gang attempted to steal Abdulkadir’s mobile phones on Ajiya Street in Yola-North Local Government Area. The police were informed of the incident around 3 am on Saturday.

An investigation into the killing is underway with the aim of apprehending those responsible for the crime.

According to Sgt Muhammad Abdulkadir, the victim’s brother, around seven gang members armed with knives and dangerous weapons invaded Umar Abdulkadir’s home at 2 am. Despite his efforts to escape, he was unable to evade the attackers. The criminals stabbed him in the stomach, causing severe injuries to his intestines.

After stabbing him, the gang stole his two mobile phones and fled the scene. Umar Abdulkadir was rushed to the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital in Yola but tragically succumbed to his injuries.

The incident highlights the ongoing security concerns posed by such criminal gangs, and authorities are working to bring those responsible to justice.
